The roof of Cantal, the Plomb is what remains of a huge stratovolcano that probably rose above 3,000 metres a few million years ago. Glaciers later carved its flanks into U-shaped valleys and cirques.

From take-off you can see the Jordanne and Cère valleys, the high Planèze plateaus and, on clear days, the Chaîne des Puys. In summer, thermals allow flights of an hour or more.

A sharp-edged pyramid of volcanic rock, Puy Mary is the heart of the 'land of volcanoes'. The great glacial valleys of the massif radiate around it, drawing a star that is perfectly readable from the sky.

Listed as a Grand Site de France, it welcomes many visitors every summer. From above, it shows its true face: mineral, immense, timeless.

WildFeel

One of the most beautiful glacial valleys in the massif, and one of the least known. Rock bars, moraines and cirques still tell the story of the glacier.

Flights start from the heights above the Rocher de la Boyle, a cliff of basalt columns overlooking the valley. No busy roads, no crowds: forest, meadows, rock and sky.

A spur overlooking the Cère valley, Puy Gros offers a landscape full of contrasts: summer pastures on one side, a deep valley on the other.

When the thermals are working, the south-west-facing slopes allow good height gains, with a view over the whole Cantal range, from the Plomb to Puy Mary.

EasyApproach

On a plateau above Vic-sur-Cère, Saint-Clément is the gateway to the massif when coming from Aurillac. Easy take-off and a comfortable landing at the bottom of the valley.

Conditions are often gentler here: an ideal site for a first family flight, with a plunging view over the Cère and its meanders.
